My girlfriend and I have been talking about having a baby lately and I told her that I was going to do my best to make sure that I could save some money and I was going to pick up overtime if it was offered at the store where I work. I work for a Phoenix heating and AC repair, installation, and maintenance company. I already work 5 days each week and I usually get 40 hours. My boss offered to give me overtime last weekend on Saturday and Sunday and I immediately said yes. When I came home on Tuesday afternoon and told my girlfriend that I picked up some extra shifts, I thought that she would be really happy. Instead, she was upset. Earlier that day she made plans with her mom and dad to meet at a Phoenix restaurant for dinner. I did not know that we were supposed to meet them on Saturday when I agreed to work. I told my girlfriend I would do my best to make sure that I was off before we had dinner, but there was no way that I could make any guarantees. Business can be crazy on the weekends, especially when you work for a Phoenix heating and AC repair, installation, and maintenance company. I ended up having a break in my day so I was able to meet my girlfriend and her parents in Phoenix at the restaurant. Unfortunately, I had to show up in my repair work uniform and I was a little underdressed for the restaurant.
