As a kid in smalltown Illinois there were not a whole lot of fun things for me to do.

The town was called La Harpe, Illinois, and I am not even sure it’s still around.

The sign coming into town said the population was 1,200, but my dad said that was not accurate. By the time I was spending my summers there, La Harpe was only about three or four hundred people. There was an old park in the middle of town, a couple of places to eat, a gas station, a grocery store, and a drug store. That was it! Luckily the drug store sold comic books, so at least I had something to do. Despite all of that, I remember Illinois very fondly. Illinois was where I got my first taste of cannabis, from a local kid that was growing a patch of plants near the railroad tracks. Perhaps inspired by the movie Stand By Me, and fueled by boredom, I would spend hours walking the railroad tracks around La Harpe, Illinois. On one of my treks I came across a small patch of cannabis plants that were so close to harvesting I could smell them from a hundred yards away. I met a teenager named Matt, who was about to harvest the cannabis, and offered to give me some if I helped him. With a head full of marijuana smoke, I started viewing Illinoius in a whole different way! Thanks to Matt and his cannabis, the remainder of my summer vacations in remote Illinois were a lot of fun.

The final reason I want to visit Albuquerque is, of course, Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul.

There are three reasons I wanted to visit Albuquerque, and they are all very nerdy. First off, when I was a little kid I saw an episode of the Simpsons involving the local baseball team the Springfield Isotopes. The team was about to be sold to the city of Albuquerque, and Homer Simpson had to fight to save his hometown team. I have come to find out that a few years ago one of the amateur baseball teams in Albuquerque changed their name to the Isotopes. I know it’s nerdy, but I really want to go see a baseball game with the Albuquerque Isotopes! The second reason I want to visit the biggest city in New Mexico is the cannabis. I live eight hundred miles away from Albuquerque, and yet for years I have heard how amazing their local cannabis is. I am not sure how they grow such quantities of cannabis in the middle of the desert, but I hope to find out. The final reason I want to visit Albuquerque is, of course, Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. Both of these shows were filmed locally, and there are tours of Albuquerque that drive you around to all the most famous filming locations. First I want to visit one of the famous Albuquerque cannabis dispensaries, and then I want to take that Breaking Bad tour and relive my favorite TV moments. I plan to record some videos during my trip, so I can share the wonders of Albuquerque with you all. But if the cannabis there is as good as everyone says I may forget to record anything.

Recently I left my hometown of Los Angeles and spent a few days on vacation in the midwest. They call it the Heartland of America, but to me it seemed pretty boring. I was out there for a family reunion, because no one else in the family wanted to go out to Los Angeles. It was quite a trip! In the heartland I had to settle for a bag of stems and seeds that looked like it was grown by the overpass. I could not get back to Los Angeles fast enough! I will take LA weed over the Heartland any day of the week.

If ever there was a case of having “too much of a good thing” it would have to be the city of Denver, Colorado. This city is just too much fun. Whenever I come for a weekend, I wish I had stayed for a week. The one time I visited Denver for a whole week, it still wasn’t enough! I was looking up home prices on Zillow to see if I could afford to move to the Mile High City. I am a nut for sports, and not just basketball and football, either. I like hockey, rugby, and professional tennis. Denver has me covered on all the bases, and more! Some nights I have to flip a coin to decide which of the Denver hometown teams I am going to watch and support. Although Denver is world-famous for its locally grown cannabis, don’t expect to be able to smoke it at a game. It is legal to purchase and possess cannabis in the city of Denver, but public consumption is still against the law. Unlike other states you won’t go to jail for smoking cannabis in Denver, but getting caught doing it in public will get you a serious fine and a citation. Cannabis use is one for private residences and property. Although Denver is cannabis-friendly it is still a city of law and order, so don’t get too crazy when you come here on vacation! My biggest problem with Denver is it has so much amazing cannabis to offer I always end up overdoing it and smoking way too much!

Writing is an art, which means there isn’t just one right way to do it. This is actually what I love the most about writing – it’s a way for a person to reinvent themselves. My wife and I scheduled a new furnace and AC installation job with a Buffalo, New York service provider.
