Making improvements to comfort

My hubby and I both grew up and went to university in the south, and my friend and I were absolutely accustomed to temperatures soaring into the nineties and running the air conditioning component just about year round.

  • Moving to Elgin, Illinois, a few years ago was a big transition.

My friend and I had never seen snow before, then the movies make the winter time weather appear almost magical! In reality, it’s a enjoyable deal of labor and expense. My hubby and I needed to invest in heavy boots, hats, gloves, jackets, snow shovels and ice scrapers! Our first winter time in Elgin was especially difficult, and no matter how my enjoyable friend and I bundled up and no matter how high my enjoyable friend and I set the temperature control, my enjoyable friend and I were always cold! Stepping outside to shovel snow or scrape ice off the windshield of the car was torture. I decided that if my enjoyable friend and I were going to stay in Elgin, my enjoyable friend and I needed to make some improvements. I did some research online and contacted a local Heating, Ventilation, and A/C contractor. I made a list of ways to tighten up the home, elevate comfort and reduce energy costs. Some of the tasks were minor and inhigh-priced while others were a considerable investment and required professional service. On our own, my hubby and I managed to install a fresh layer of insulation in the attic. My friend and I weatherstripped doors, caulked around windows and filled in any cracks that my enjoyable friend and I found. My friend and I hired Heating, Ventilation, and A/C servicemans to handle air duct sealing, boiler repair and a temperature control update. My friend and I have plans to add ceiling fans to help push heated air downward in the winter time and upward in the summer. My friend and I are also hoping to replace all of the seasoned windows with thermal paned, Energy Star rated options.
