When I was in middle school I was area of the club called Matheletes, then get it? A combination of the words Math & Athletes, as a fun current word for “nerds.” I’m joking! Although all of us might have been a little nerdy, this was a enjoyable group of students.
What none of the other kids realized is that being a Mathelete gave us a lot of enjoyable opportunities, the people I was with and I had the inside track on scholarships, the teachers all enjoyed us, & all of us got to take trips to compete in other cities, prefer Portland, Oregon.
I was 17 years old the first time I visited Portland, & it completely changed our life. It was the first time I had been anywhere that cannabis was not only legal, however socially sufficient! Nobody in Portland, Oregon cares if you smoke cannabis or not, just be polite about it, however just prefer with cigarettes, it is illegal to smoke cannabis inside public sites, however otherwise it’s fair game! My friends dared myself and others to go inside of the cool-looking Portland cannabis dispensaries, & so I did however I wasn’t old enough to buy anything. One of the other rules in Portland is that minors cannot legally purchase cannabis, which makes sense now however pissed myself and others off at the time! I asked a single of the budtenders about buying a few grams of cannabis, & he asked myself and others for our ID. I said I wasn’t from Portland, & I had left our ID back in the hotel. The budtender said “OK, I guess you look old enough” & sold myself and others cannabis anyway! I fell in prefer with Portland that weekend.
