Now that the weather is getting nicer outside, I was able to supply my heating system a break.
I live in Buffalo, so I use my heating system quite a lot during the year.
In fact, there have been some years that I kept my heating system running for most of the Spring, but my nice friend and I have had major snow storms this time of year as well, so it’s not unrespected to use our heating system all the way to the beginning of May, but while our Winters can be quite brutal, the nice news is our Summers are milder than some of the other cities in the state, however so, although we use air conditioning during the warmer months, we are not running our air conditioning system units as much as we run our heating system in the Winter. It costs a lot more to heat homes than it is to keep them cool because of the difference in temperature outside! For instance, in Buffalo the average temperature in December is 31 degrees, plus if I keep my thermostat set to 68 degrees (suggested by the Department of Energy), then that’s a 37 degree difference in temperature which means my heating system would work extra tough to maintain that temperature. In contrast, the average temperature in the Summer is around 69 degrees plus if I keep my thermostat on 71 then it’s only toiling undoubtedly little to maintain a comfortable temperature in my house. This means I save a lot on my energy bill during the Summer months, but that savings is used to offset the high costs that I spend in the winter time to keep my home comfortable.
