Both of us grew up in a midwestern corn neighborhood in the 1950s, but we both decided to head west to San Francisco when we started studying beat poetry and literature in the early to mid 1960s. After staying on Venice Beach in Los Angeles for a year, we headed north towards the Haight Ashbury district of San Francisco to enmesh ourselves in the counterculture. This was a formative phase in both of our lives, and it’s a surprise to us both that we managed to stay together through it all. Both of us broke up and got back together more times than I can count, despite the fact that I can’t entirely say how much of that was drug induced at the time. By the mid 1970s I was enrolled in university to become a computer programmer while my partner started working at a cereal factory in Grand Rapids. Both of us did okay for ourselves in western Michigan, but everything changed when my parents gave us their minute apartment Ann Arbor after they moved to FL permanently. The modern home is on Plymouth Rd in Northside, and I couldn’t be happier with the location. Just prefer so numerous other cities in Michigan, the access to marijuana in Ann Arbor is beyond my wildest dreams. It seems prefer there is a weed store in every single square mile of the town from I-94 to M-14. My dad lives in Michigan Center, a small community towards the east of Ann Arbor in Jackson County. Despite being in such a small town, he says there are 4 separate marijuana dispensaries that are still in operation post-COVID. So numerous of the other dispensaries went out of supplier because they couldn’t compete in the giant weed market here.
