Before my current neighbor moved in next door, there was this recluse that turned out to be a drug manufacturer.
He didn’t have a meth lab, but I heard from the police report that he was a chemist making lab grade MDMA that he would sell on the dark web through black market channels.
He was caught in a sting operation and the house was raided while I was at work one day, but my Nest camera recorded most of it. That was quite the video sequence to watch when I got home from work! Now that the drug manufacturer is gone, I have a new neighbor in his place. This new neighbor is so nice that he invites me to all of his family bbqs, even when he’s having extended family members over. He knows that I don’t have any family in the area, so he tries to include me as if I’m another member of his own family. That’s a level of inclusion, acceptance, compassion that I’m simply not used to in life. He’s also extremely accountable, like when his tree fell on my HVAC condenser unit outside. He didn’t wait to see if my heating and cooling company in Orland Park, IL would offer to replace it under warranty—he paid for all of the HVAC repair costs out of pocket. We were both thankful the tree missed the side of my house by a matter of inches, or the damages would have been catastrophic. Regardless, I love my neighborin Orland Park, Illinois and will be sad if he ever decides to move for any reason.
