I miss living by the water

Most of my life, I lived by the water.

  • I enjoyed swimming, fishing, and outdoor boating activities.

When I wasn’t at work or school, I was in the water. I graduated from high school and accepted a scholarship to play baseball for kids at the University of Arizona in Phoenix. When I finished playing baseball, I found a job working with youth and the program was in Phoenix. I’ve lived in Phoenix now for the past 15 years and I can say without a doubt that I miss living by the water. It’s so incredibly hot during the summer months and there is no break from the heat. There is a pool at my apartment complex, but most of the time it is shut down for cleaning. It seems like every time I have a day off, the pool is closed. Last Monday I didn’t have to work and I plan to spend the day at the pool. Thank goodness it was one of those rare days when it was open, because the AC in my apartment didn’t work after 2 pm. It was 110° that day. There was absolutely no way to run the AC after the temperature reached triple digits. The AC works hard, but it can only do so much work. Asking the AC to cool the air when it is that hot is absolutely asking too much. When the temperatures are that hot in Phoenix, the best thing to do is shut off the AC and find a cool body of water to hang out for the afternoon.
