A ventilation system introduces fresh air

The weather in Phoenix, Arizona, fluctuates greatly. Most people are aware of the especially hot summers. The temperatures soars into the triple digits for months at a time. The season is long, dry and especially hot. While the winters tend to be much shorter, we need to rely on a heating system for several months. The temperature tends to drop into the low forties. Because we switch from air conditioning to heating without much break in-between, energy bills are a concern. I’ve made an effort to prevent conditioned air from leaking out and to stop outside air from coming in. I’ve sealed around windows and doors, invested into attic insulation and make sure to have the ductwork inspected and tested every couple of years. My proactive measures have helped to reduce monthly utility bills. Unfortunately, I’ve also significantly lessened natural ventilation. When my house in Phoenix started feeling overly dry and dusty, I initially blamed the heating system. I hired a local HVAC contractor to provide a thorough cleaning and tuning. He told me that the problems with air quality were due to the absence of fresh air. The same stale air was getting circulated throughout the space day after day. Contaminants such as dust, dander and VOCs were becoming trapped indoors. He suggested that I add a ventilation system. The ventilator works in partnership with the furnace, air conditioner and ductwork. It runs year around, makes very little noise and requires only annual upkeep. The system works to introduce fresh, clean air into the home and pull out the dirty, stale air. I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the improvement. The living space doesn’t need to be vacuumed or dusted as frequently. My family has suffered fewer illnesses.

The importance of ductwork

My home is outfitted with a natural gas furnace and central air conditioner.

The system utilizes ductwork to transport air to and from the various rooms.

The ductwork is largely concealed behind walls and ceilings and within crawlspaces, making it difficult to access and easy to forget about. I’ve read that the majority of duct systems leak as much as 30% of conditioned air. Cracks at the seams, holes and other imperfections allow heated and cooled air to escape. When the maximum amount of air fails to reach the desired destination, the equipment is forced to work that much harder and longer. Operation consumes more energy, experiences greater wear and tear and leads to much higher utility bills. There is an increased risk of malfunctions and the probability of shortened system service life. Holes in the ductwork also draw in outside air and contaminants. Dust, pollen, fumes, mold spores, VOCs and other pollutants can get spread into the breathing air. Concerned that the ducts were undermining the performance of the furnace and air conditioner, I got in touch with a local HVAC contractor. Living in Plano, Texas, I rely heavily on heating and cooling. Summer temperatures frequently climb into the mid nineties with brutal humidity. Winter temperatures drop into the low thirties with bitter windchill. Heating and cooling adds up to about 50% of the household energy bills. I need the system operating as efficiently and effectively as possible. The HVAC technician tested the ductwork and determined that sealing was necessary. Fortunately the sealing process was quick and non-invasive.

Glad I got radiant heating

The best decision I ever made was getting heated flooring put in my home; When I moved to TX my family was all shocked. They told me it was going to be so sizzling there that it would drive me out; Yes it gets hot, but not that bad. There is a distinct winter season! It gets frosty but there is no snow or ice. That sounds like a win to me. When I told my family I was going to get radiant flooring they thought I was crazy. They didn’t feel that it gets to be in the 30s at night residing in Fort Worth, TX. It genuinely does get frosty for about three months out of the year. Investing in an expensive heating system for only three months seems dumb, although I was at the perfect time in my life. I moved into my cabin as well as didn’t have major furniture. I also remodeled the flooring. I removed the carpet as well as got my floors down to the brick board. This was the moment I was able to set up electric heated mats on the cement. Then I laid a fresh stone overtop. This seals in the heating system as well as keeps it safe; A stone floor is way better than carpet for heated flooring. I can honestly feel the heat better. I love having radiant heating in Fort Worth, TX; Sure, I don’t use it more than around 30% of the year, but when I do use it, It is fantastic. I love that the heating system is silent. It also does not stir up dust as well as affect my air quality due to it being eclectic based. It also is a space saver since it is hidden under my flooring.

Hydronic heating in Sioux Falls

My Sioux Falls property deals with a lot of ice, snow, as well as below freezing temperatures! It is just something I have to deal with.

I am not a fan of the cold, and what I do to combat it is have an optimal heating device. I recently upgraded to a boiler system as well as it was a game changer, however a furnace just can’t get the task done. It seemed like I was consistently calling a Sioux Falls Heating as well as A/C supplier to come as well as perform a furnace repair or service. A boiler is a tank. It doesn’t need the amount of repair, repairs, as well as updates. It can just keep going as well as does not require cleaning. It can heat my entire apartment without a hitch. I decided that the way I wanted it to heat was through piping within my floorboards. I got the floors redone. I now have brick throughout most of the property as well as a few pieces of carpet in the dining rooms. The pipes have tepid water from the boiler that flows all throughout the home. That tepid water creates a heating effect! Hydronic heating is the way to go in South Dakota. It is powerful enough to combat the serious chill. It is quiet in operation since it isn’t forced air. It also does not stir up dust or create tepid as well as frigid spots because of it being water based. Anything that touches my heated flooring feels sizzling as a result. It does not need a lot of care as well as has a long lifespan. I am so cheerful I made this upgrade.

Dual fuel plan could work in Minnesota

I wanted to own a heat pump system for a long time… When I moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota I figured those dreams were over, and have you ever looked at the weather report there? The weather basically is cold frigid all year long.

Winters in the single digits and snow all the time, and the summer time season barely needs a cooling system, but so owning a heat pump seems stupid, and i liked the stats though. I liked the idea of not having HVAC duct in my home. I wanted to do Heating & Air Conditioning zone control. I liked that a heat pump does orange heating. It uses existing heat energy to move it room to room in the house. The snag is that when the hot and cold temperatures drop below cold, you’re screwed. The heat pump can’t do its task anymore, but more modern, high efficiency heat pumps are better at it, however not great. It is better to own a boiler or a heater. I then found online that you can do a dual fuel system or a hybrid boiler it is called. This is where you pair a heat pump with a heater. So for most of the year I can rely on a heat pump to supply energy smart heating and cooling. It uses clean, renewable energy that saves me money, on colder nights the equipment automatically swings settings to gas heating. Then the boiler tags in and I never experience a frigid burst. So I save as much as my Minneapolis, Minnesota condo will let me. It is not the device’s fault that I live in a frigid location.

Worth investing in heated flooring

When I moved into my Lowell, Massachusetts apartment I got kind of silly with remodeling; I instantly felt I had to modernize the apartment before I moved my stuff in, but the first thing I did was have the floors redone.

I paid a ton of money to disconnect all the carpets plus put down brick instead.

I am so happy that a neighbor of mine mentioned heated flooring. I live in Massachusetts. It is freezing 90% of the time! Having a supplemental heater is never a dumb idea. I inspected the home’s Heating plus A/C component plus saw it was over 15 years old. How long would it last? I could be potentially saving my butt with another heater, so I dumped even more money into that project to get heated flooring! Everyone said I was silly however I was excited. Every space got current floors with a boiler underneath. I then painted, cleaned, plus redid one washroom, and because of the electric heated flooring I wasn’t able to redo the kitchen like I wanted. At first I thought I made a mistake. After one winter season in Lowell, Massachusetts, I was so cheerful I did radiant heating. It is amazing having the heat at my feet… No heated air rises to the top plus gets wasted. No noise, dust being stirred plus anything that touches the system feels warm as a result, then my pet entirely enjoys the boiler. I do not cook that much, so the heated flooring was the better choice. My current Heating plus A/C is threatening to quit plus I am not even sad.
