My friends and I live in Thousand oaks, but we frequently go to Santa Monica for the day.

There’s a really nice pier in Santa Monica and there is a lot of great beach area.

My friends and I drive down the coast. Before we leave Thousand Oaks, we usually go to the marijuana dispensary. There are great deals on cannabis in Thousand Oaks, California. If we have to buy marijuana somewhere else, we are probably going to end up paying a lot more money than we would if we buy the products before leaving Thousand Oaks. I had a boyfriend surprise me with a trip to California.

The itinerary had us flying into San Francisco and stayin ga few days.

Then we would move further south to enjoy the beach. San Francisco was a great time. There were neat restaurants, cool shops and of course legal weed is there. I do remember vividly how difficult it was to get an uber. There are so many people hustling and bustling about. If you call for an uber, it takes almost 30 minutes to get somebody. The traffic was so bad that the uber drivers kicked us out a lot. Yes, they told us we could walk faster than the drive. They still charge for the whole trip even though my boyfriend and I walked most of the way. That was if we could get a car too. I remember my boyfriend booked an expensive French dinner for the two of us. It was a hole in the wall place that had all homemade bread, cheeses and pasta. I was so excited. It was miles away. We tried to get an uber but nobody would come. We ended up walking through the city. My high heels hurt my feet and slowed me down so bad. Rather than miss our reservation I took off my shoes and walked barefoot. Yeah, I walked barefoot through a dirty city. It wasn’t one of my brighter moments. It is memorable though. Anytime I think of San Fran I think about walking barefoot carrying my high heels.

When I was in school they didn’t offer cool stuff like the Robot Club.

This afterschool program is exactly what it sounds like – the science teacher shows the kids how to build simple robots.

My daughter Ella is in 5th grade, and doing things I couldn’t do as an adult. It’s pretty impressive. They build robots to compete in little contests based on speed, strength, flexibility, etc. The robots don’t fight, they just compete, and they even do it in national competitions. My daughter’s club won a chance to go to Seattle, Washington, for the biggest competition of the year. Dozens of teams from all over the country converged on Seattle to see which kids made the most proficient robots. Normally I don’t like to be chaperone for school trips, but I was willing to make an exception for Seattle, mostly due to the proliferation of cannabis dispensaries. In my home state cannabis is still illegal, so I was eager to visit a place like Seattle, where cannabis is a thriving and respected industry. Ella had a great time with her Robot Club, and while they were competing I snuck away to do a walking tour of Seattle and stop by a couple different cannabis dispensaries. I knew that I couldn’t fly out of the Seattle airport with a pocket full of cannabis nugs, so I just bought a little to smoke in the hotel room. I also loaded up on cannabis edibles, which would be much easier to sneak through the TSA in the Seattle airport. What a great trip!

When I was in high school I was part of the club called Matheletes.

Get it? A combination of the words Math and Athletes, as a fun new word for “nerds.” I’m joking! Although we might have been a little nerdy, this was a great group of students.

What none of the other kids realized is that being a Mathelete gave us a lot of great opportunities. We had the inside track on scholarships, the teachers all loved us, and we got to take trips to compete in other cities, like Portland, Oregon. I was 17 years old the first time I visited Portland, and it completely changed my life. It was the first time I had been somewhere that cannabis was not only legal, but socially acceptable. Nobody in Portland, Oregon cares if you smoke cannabis or not, just be polite about it. Just like with cigarettes, it is illegal to smoke cannabis inside public venues, but otherwise it’s fair game! My friends dared me to go inside of the cool-looking Portland cannabis dispensaries, and so I did even though I wasn’t old enough to buy anything. One of the other rules in Portland is that minors cannot legally purchase cannabis, which makes sense now but pissed me off at the time! I asked one of the budtenders about buying a few grams of cannabis, and he asked me for my ID. I said I wasn’t from Portland, and I had left my ID back in the hotel. The budtender said “OK, I guess you look old enough” and sold me cannabis anyway! I fell in love with Portland that weekend.

When you are a college student, you really don’t require a good reason to go to Las Vegas, it just seems like a natural thing to do! In my case I did have a good reason. My pals and I were a part of a national organization that competes with building sand castles. Sounds silly, I know, but it’s really fun! What’s even more fun is being able to build a sand castle in front of a major casino in Las Vegas, Nevada! My friends and I made one of the sixteen teams that were there to compete, with the winner getting a ten thousand dollar check from the casino. On the way to Las Vegas, I had visions of winning the contest and getting that fat check to split between us. Once I was actually in the city of Las Vegas I wanted for my team to lose immediately, so that I could spend the rest of the weekend getting crazy. Las Vegas had an effect on my mind that I didn’t expect, and suddenly I didn’t care about sand castles, I only cared about casinos, and drinks, and smoking cannabis. One thing I never knew before that weekend was that cannabis is legal in Las Vegas. Back home I had to hustle and scrounge to find marijuana, but in Las Vegas there are a dozen or more different dispensaries. It turns out that I was not alone, and that Las Vegas had a similar effect on my teammates. We ended up blowing off the contest entirely and spending the weekend smoking cannabis and gambling.

Even if Illinois has legal marijuana, there are still some businesses that say no.

I play for a minor league baseball team and we are out of illinois.

We actually play at a small stadium right outside of the city, but the name of the team is the Illinois Mudcats. The baseball team is a fun activity. I played baseball during high school and a couple of years in college. I broke my pitching arm in a car accident and that was the end of my baseball career. I rehabbed for 8 months and finally regained a lot of motion and movement in my arm. The Illinois doctor prescribed medical marijuana to help with the pain during the rehab process. I liked being able to get medical marijuana from the dispensary and I was even more excited when I found out that recreational marijuana was going to be legalized at the end of the year. As soon as marijuana was legalized in Illinois, I started smoking everyday. The baseball team does not allow any marijuana smoking at all during the season. When I have to play, the team needs me to be strong. It’s hard not to use recreational marijuana when I think that it helps my mental health a great deal but the rules are the rules. If I get caught with cannabis in my system, I forfeit my right to play and somebody else gets to take my spot. I really enjoy the league, so I think it’s worth it to stop smoking cannabis during those couple of months every year.

The prices were a lot higher and I didn’t get the same good deals. When I got back home from visiting with my friends, the first thing I did was contact the marijuana dispensary to place an order. I hope they would not remember that I was the person that called and did not answer the phone. Unfortunately, my phone number was flagged in the system and so was my address. I had to talk to the store manager before they would send any items to my home for delivery.

I am working on a series of research papers tracing the history of famous strains of cannabis. At the moment I am doing this as a hobby, but one day I want to collect all my findings into a book and get it published. The climate in this country right now is very pro-weed, which makes my research a lot easier. I have done studies on Blue Dream, Acapulco Gold, and Purple Haze, but for my latest sojourn into history I wanted to find something more obscure. Most people haven’t even heard of the town called Muskegon in Michigan, nor have they heard of the famously powerful strain of cannabis called Muskegon Skunk Weed. When other people try to clone or reproduce the famous Muskegon strain they will call it Musky Skunk. In any case, this rare and legendary kind of marijuana is closely associated with Muskegon. After I had completed all the online research, and learned all that I could about Muskegon and its famous weed strains, I packed up for a personal visit. I can only learn so much over the internet, and in order to get a complete picture of the Muskegon cannabis scene I had to visit it in person. I met a very nice woman named Jenny, who is the manager and owner of Muskegon’s third-largest cannabis dispensary. Jenny was kind enough to give me a sampler of various Muskegon strains, and then sit down for a long interview talking about their history. I have to say the history of marijuana in Muskegon is one of the best research papers I’ve ever written.
