One of my favorite things about living in Las Vegas is being able to meet new people every day, people who come from all around the country and the world.

Las Vegas is one of the top tourist destinations in the country – and why wouldn’t it be? This place is amazing! People come here specifically to have fun and get crazy, which means I get to meet new people at their most uninhibited.

I work the front counter at one of the many Las Vegas cannabis dispensaries during the Graveyard Shift. That means from midnight to daybreak I am in the cannabis dispensary, talking to the wild and crazy tourists of Las Vegas. For the most part all of our clients are polite and friendly, but in a town like Las Vegas there are always some people who take things too far. Nobody ever starts a fight or causes a scene because of too much cannabis, these people are always coming in drunk from a Las Vegas casino. Usually the guard won’t even let them in the shop, but I also keep the Las Vegas Police Department on speed dial, just in case. One thing that tourists don’t realize about Las Vegas is that we are very chill, and cut tourists a lot of slack. Las Vegas is a very forgiving town. But when you cross the line and get rowdy with a Las Vegas local, the cops will take you down fast.

When I feel overwhelmed, I have trouble staying on track.

Sometimes I feel like I want to crawl into a hole and never come back out. The feelings of sadness and despair can be overwhelming at times. I used to take a pill every single day to help stabilize my mood, but now I regularly use medical marijuana instead. Medical marijuana was legalized in the state of Pennsylvania back in 2016. The governor signed the rule into law stating that all citizens of the state of Pennsylvania can have access to medical marijuana if they have one of the qualifying conditions. Edibles are great to have on the go and they help stabilize my mood and keep me calm. I like the gummies and the hard candy, but I have also tried cookies, cupcakes, brownies, and space cake.

I worked my butt off all four years of highschool in order to make it to Columbia College.

It was my dream, my goal and my purpose for those four years. When I finally got my acceptance letter, it was such a relief. I was finally going to the school of my dreams. I considered the programs offered at the school. The prestige. The colors of the college, the kinds of people, etc. What I didn’t consider is that Columbia is in Chicago. Sure I thought of the city a bit and how fun it would be to walk around it. I didn’t think about the weather though. Illinois is super cold! There is snow and ice and severe windchill. I realized that the cold weather was kicking my butt. My first year of school I lived in the dorms and froze my butt off. Year two I tried an apartment in the city. It was super expensive to live in a shoe box with nothing more than a space heater. My last two years I got smart. I rented a house in Glenview IL. It was a 35 minute drive to school in city traffic but worth it. I had a house vs a small apartment. I had a whole home heater vs a space heater. I lived in a rural area with cheaper food, gas and accommodations. I got more bang for my buck. I really liked Glenview too. The people were nice and friendly. The area was clean. If I was a cold weather fan, I totally would have made it my permanent home. After graduating at Columbia, I was done with the snow though.

Dehumidifiers are machines that remove the humidity and moisture from the air.

I knew that a dehumidifier could help my air conditioner work better. Down here in the south, we have a lot of trouble with humidity. I live in Lakeland, Florida, and I am very close to the water. There is always a lot of moisture inside of the air and it can make it very difficult for the air conditioner to work properly. I contacted a Lakeland HVAC business to get an estimate on a dehumidifier. I was planning to get a dehumidifier that was part of my heating and AC system, but the Lakeland contractor told me about a couple of other ideas that would work out too. The Lakeland contractor suggested two additional mini-split AC units with dehumidifier features. This would give me two dehumidifiers as well as extra AC units four times during the summer when the temperatures are 100° or higher. The cost of the two mini split AC units with dehumidifiers was less than the cost of adding a whole home dehumidifier. I was happy that I called the Lakeland heating and AC Service to help me with making the decision. I thought that I wanted one thing, but they made me realize that there were a lot more options out there that could work. When my family comes to visit in the summer, they’re going to be surprised by the new updates and upgrades. My sister always complains about the indoor temperatures here in Lakeland, but the two ductless mini split air conditioners with dehumidifiers are going to get rid of the excess moisture.

I live in Buffalo, New York and recently, I saw a news report that discussed the new climate change initiative that was passed by the federal government.

Basically, the initiative is trying to move all homes away from using natural gas.

Currently, there are a lot of homes in Buffalo including mine that depend solely on natural gas to keep comfortable in the Winter. I have a furnace as well as a hot water heater that uses natural gas as its source of energy. The initiative would like to replace all the natural gas appliances with highly efficient electric alternatives by 2030. The cost of replacing the furnace as well as the water heater will be astounding but the government is offering some incentives as well as tax breaks to offset the price. For now, I don’t need to do anything with my furnace or hot water heater, it mainly impacts new houses or new equipment being purchased. But if my furnace or hot water heater doesn’t last for another 7 years, I will need to upgrade to the newer units as well. I don’t know if it will be cheaper to use these new HVAC heat pumps that the government is promoting, and I don’t know if these electric heat pumps will be able to keep my home comfortable in the brutal Winter. I guess as they start to install these heat pumps in people’s homes, the data collected will show how well they are performing. At least, for now, I don’t need to worry about this new initiative, and I will deal with it when it’s time to replace my furnace or hot water heater.

In Elgin, Illinois we get a lot of snow.

I remember trick or treating in the snow and hunting Easter eggs.

It just comes with the territory. That is why it is smart to have a snow blower. For years I would snow blow my driveway at night and have it clean for the morning. It took me a long time. The snow would fall overnight too and ruin all my progress. Eventually I got sick of it. Snow blowing didn’t work for how much we got. I then found that adding a snowmelt system to my driveway was easy. I already owned a boiler system. The boiler can have piping hooked to it and have it installed under the driveway. The piping then has warm water flow through it. That warm water then heats the snow on top of the driveway. It melts the snow, hence a snowmelt system. It is silent in operation and quite efficient. I loved that I didn’t need to do a thing other than turn it on. Also, since my car sat on the heating system, it felt warm as a result. Ice is common in Illinois too. With the snow melt system, the ice melted right off my windshield. I then didn’t need to spend a bunch of time in the morning preheating my car and chipping off the ice. I could just turn on the car and go. The snowmelt system has more than paid for itself. It was an easy update to make and has made my life much easier. I know everyone on the block is jealous of me.

St.Petersburg is located just south of Tampa on the Gulf of mexico. St. Petersburg is one of the biggest cities outside of Tampa. It is right on the bay. There are more than 100 different marinas in St. Petersburg. I moved to the city so I could start a boating business. I take people out to the gulf for deep sea fishing expeditions. Every day of the week I take out a group of four or five people. Sometimes it’s friends that are having a party and sometimes it is a business function. Either way, I have to make sure that my boat is in the best condition. I noticed a couple of problems with the boat earlier this week, so I took it to a shop that handles repairs. While my boat was in the shop, I went to a restaurant across the street from the marina. The St. Petersburg restaurant has a delicious menu. I grab sandwiches from there all the time, but I rarely sit down to enjoy the atmosphere. It was nice inside the restaurant. The air was cool and crisp. I could tell that they were running the air conditioner on high. It was at least 20° cooler inside of the restaurant than it was outside. I sat inside of the restaurant in the air conditioning while I waited for the company to finish up with my boat repairs. I had goose bumps on my arm when I walked out the door. The air conditioner was working so well that it felt like winter in the restaurant. It was quite a change when I walked outside.
