The weather in Lee’s Summit, MO is quite mild.

I like that we get four distinct seasons though. The spring and the fall are probably my favorite times of the year. In the fall we get the changing leaves. There are pumpkins, squash and zucchini blooming. I like to make stew, soup and spaghetti squash. I have the local HVAC dealer come in and inspect the heating equipment. I make sure that everything is all clean, neat and tidy. Then I can rest easy and know that our winter is going to be nice and warm. I have a gas fireplace and radiant flooring in the nice. The fireplace I will admit is more of a decor thing. We get a few nights that are very chilly that I turn it on for supplemental heating. For the most part I just use the radiant flooring. The quiet, gentle heat is great. In the spring it is the reverse. I enjoy that we have all sorts of flowers blooming. I bought a bunch of hanging baskets and set up potted plants. I mulch my garden and plant some new vegetables. I then make sure to get the cooling system properly tuned up. The inner workings get mold and mildew removed. I have the condensate drain mucked out and the dust wiped out. Then the air conditioner is good to make it through the summer. It doesn’t get too hot in our area, but enough where cooling is necessary. I can’t imagine areas that are always hot or cold. I like getting a change of pace.

There are summer storms all of the time in the south. There’s a lot of heat and humidity and the water off the coast is warm. It is the perfect recipe for summer tropical storms and hurricanes. Tropical storms and hurricanes don’t usually hit the Jacksonville area, due to the fact that that jet stream keeps them further off the coast. That prompted me to go to the hardware store to buy a window air conditioner. It was a small price to pay for overnight comfort.

My boyfriend and I live in Michigan about 3 hours away from my parents.

They live on the other side of the border in indiana.

They are in a small town called South bend. My boyfriend and I went to visit my parents in South Bend for a couple of days. We stayed in a hotel, which made my mom and dad very upset. They thought that we were going to stay with them, but I wanted my boyfriend and I to have some privacy after we drove 3 hours. I appreciate it that my mom and dad wanted us to stay with them, but my boyfriend and I were much more comfortable in a South Bend hotel. We did have some problems with the heating system in the hotel. The heater was dusty and dirty. They had to move us to three different rooms before they found us a place that had a working heating system and hot water. Our visit with my mom and dad was really nice and we had a good time. We spent the day on Saturday walking around the university campus and we went to the zoo. When we left on Sunday to head back home, it was very cold and frigid outside. It started to snow when we still had 40 more miles to drive. The snow started to get heavier and heavier the closer we drove north. If we would have waited another hour to leave my mom and dad’s house, we probably would have been stranded on the side of the road in the snow. It was getting heavier and heavier and by the time we got home there was already 8 inches of fresh snow on the ground.

My mom told me that she was going to leave me in charge of the house for the weekend and I wasn’t supposed to have any friends over.

I had a couple of friends come to the house and that turned into a huge party.

There must have been 20 or 30 people in the house at one time and I only knew two or three of them. After paying extremely high rent to live in a very cramped apartment in the city of Chicago, my husband and I were excited to move to Orland Park.

The village is a suburb of Chicago and a quick forty-minute drive away.

We still have access to all of the amenities of the city. It’s no problem to buy tickets to a Bulls or Blackhawks game. We can see a concert at Lincoln Hall or attend a show at the Chicago Theater. However, we get to enjoy greater privacy and more land. Orland Park offers plenty of upscale restaurants and some really great shopping at the Orland Square Mall. During the Summer months in Cocoa, Florida, it gets so hot that I am tempted to stay home and bask in my air conditioning.

But of course, living in such a beautiful area, there are better ways to pass the time.

For instance, there are tons of coastline within minutes of my home and the beach is always a great place to cool off. In addition to the beach, there are other cool activities that are available and some of which are inside in the air conditioning. A few Summers ago, I took a fun cooking class, as well as a pottery making class. Both classes were inside of buildings that had climate control. This means I can enjoy these activities all year long. It is so important that places like Cocoa have many different options for fun activities. And there needs to be a good balance of both indoor and outdoor activities. Personally, I don’t mind doing things outside, even though the weather does get to be a bit unbearable during the hottest months in the Summer. So, I appreciate that Cocoa has a bunch of fun activities housed inside places with climate control. Some people seem to believe that it doesn’t get cold in Cocoa. Of course, compared to other states, the Winters here are fairly mild. And naturally, during the colder months, most of us are not on the beaches. If I do go out during the colder part of the year, chances are, I am at a movie theater or at a restaurant that has heating and cooling. Or doing another fun activity inside a space with climate control.
